Welcome

How to take a giant sleigh from the Bavarian mountains or Harz, a German low mountain range, to Munich or Bielefeld? No, of course not by sleigh-horses or –dogs ;-).  The smaller and not so big sleighs could be carried by a transporter, which had to be rent. For the bigger ones a really big truck was needed.  You can imagine, it was quite a challenge to manage all this.  Because the purchase of the dream sleighs was quite expensive and for the restoration of them there were only used the best and precious materials, my dad saved money by  making big efforts to transport his “Schlittentraeume”.

After they arrived at their new home, these antique arts first had to be cleaned very carefully. Sometimes, as you can see at the picture, first these inhabitants, which were not so welcomed, had to be removed.

These rough work  my dad did by himself most of the time for two reasons: he didn’t want someone else to do this hard and dirty work, and , as I guess, in this hours he really could get to know each piece of his collection, could get familiar with it. He in fact has a personal relationship to each of his collectibles.

Soon I will tell you about the “sleighs’ squad” and how much effort it took to go on with the restoration.

Take care, see you soon,

yours,

Stephanie
